Mackintosh Gin Newsletter: November 2018
Welcome to the November newsletter from Mackintosh Gin! So much has gone on since our last newsletter and there’s a lot planned for this month too!
When we sent out October’s newsletter, we reported that our first batch had been distilled and was resting in tanks. We produced 292 bottles from that run which we bottled on the 8th October.
We have continued to make good progress and we officially launched on the 12th October. We started taking pre-orders a week before launch and we were immediately swamped with orders, thank you so much to everyone who purchased a bottle (or two) from us, this really was appreciated.
The Grewar’s Farm Shop in Dronley was our first stockist and started selling our gin on the 12th October to tie in with the launch. If you are in the Dundee or Angus area then you’ll be able to pick a bottle up from them. We are also available to purchase online through Craft56, Crafty Connoisseur and Distillers Market. Of course, if you like the direct approach we are also selling through our own website!
We held our first public tasting event at the Grewar’s Farm Shop in Dronley on the 13th October, which went very well. We made a few sales and new friends on the day. We love doing these events, they are so much fun and we have more of them planned for the coming months.
We spent 4 weeks pre and post launch sending out sample packs to bloggers, ginthusiasts and gin friends. We sent 200 of them out, some days sending 5 whilst other days we sent 35 to ensure that someone, somewhere received a sample every day. We did this in the hope of raising some awareness through social media and we were blown away by the response. The reviews and images posted online of our samples were amazing, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to post about it.
We also gave 10 sample packs away as a competition, which was run for us by The Gin Room Scotland. The response was amazing, thank you to everyone who took the time to enter and thank you to Jayne for running it. We must like the number 10 because we’re also giving away bottle number 10 from the first batch in a competition that is being run for us just now by The Gin Wyche. There is still time to enter as it is being run up until St. Andrews Day, you can find details on social media, just search @theginwyche.
We are making our debut on the gin festival circuit this month and will be appearing at The Scot Gin Fest in Dundee on the 10thNovember. We are really, really excited for this with it being in our hometown. We live just outside Dundee on the Angus border and James was born and bred in Dundee. We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible on the day and making new gin friends.
Our gin will also be available on the bar at 2 prestigious events in London this month. The first one is the 4 day True OriGINs Gin Festival at Tobacco Dock from the 1st– 4thNovember and the second one is the Gin In The House event at Stephens House & Gardens on the 24thNovember. We would have loved to have been at both these events in person as they will be amazing events, however we are hoping to attend both of them next year.
We had some amazing images sent to us by some very talented photographers prior to launch and we were very impressed with what they sent us. It’s only right that we give them a mention as the images were amazing. We had some detailed label images against a white background sent to us by Graeme MacDonald, some G&T splash images against a black background sent to us by Lorraine Paterson and some scene setting images sent to us from the team at The Gin Cooperative. Our sincere thanks go out to all of them for the amazing images!
October was a very busy and productive month for us at Mackintosh HQ. We launched, did tastings, got stocked in our favourite farm shop, were taken on by some of the well-known craft spirits online retailers, have been asked to supply our gin for the bar at two London events and lastly, in the last couple of days we have been listed on the Ginventory App!
We are excited for the next month and we look forward to the challenges that November will bring. Cheers!
Keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates on our progress, and where & when we will be offering some tastings of our gin!
