Mackintosh Bartender Challenge

Updated: Jun 17, 2019

£250 cash, a case of gin for your bar and an invitation to collaborate with us on our limited-edition bartender’s edition gin in 2020.

We’re looking for Scotland’s best bartender to design a Mackintosh Gin signature serve and work with us on our limited-edition bartender’s edition gin that we’re launching in 2020. The inaugural Mackintosh Gin Bartenders Challenge invites bartenders working in Scotland to enter for a chance to compete at one of four regional heats in September 2019, with a final round to decide the overall winner in November 2019.

Entrants are to submit their idea for a signature serve using Mackintosh Gin. Ten entrants from each region will be invited to compete in a regional heat which will be judged by a panel on the night. The four winners from the regional heats will come together for a final round in November to decide the best cocktail which will be promoted as a signature serve for us throughout 2020. The four winners will join us in early 2020 to help produce our limited-edition Bartender’s Edition Mackintosh Gin which will go on sale that year with their name on the label.

The winner from each regional heat will win a £250 cash prize and a case of Mackintosh Gin for their bar.

How to Enter

We want you to create a cocktail using at least 25ml of Mackintosh Gin, that can be replicated by home bartenders with ingredients that are easy to source or make. You may use up to six ingredients, not including garnish, homemade ingredients are allowed but if used must detail the recipe and method.

Please complete the Mackintosh Bartenders Challenge entry form to submit your entry. We will need your drinks specifications, recipe if using home-made ingredients, the name of your cocktail, inspiration/story behind your entry and an image of your creation. The closing date for entry is Sunday 04th August 2019.

Ten bartenders from each region will be selected to attend a regional final where they will make their cocktail and present it to the judging panel.

All bartenders must be available to attend the regional heat on the selected date and all shortlisted finalists must be available to attend the overall final on the selected date, any bartender not able to attend these dates will forfeit their place. Regional finals will take place in Dundee, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. The winner from each regional final will travel to Dundee to compete in the overall final to decide the overall winning cocktail that will be promoted as our signature serve in 2020.

Full competition terms and conditions can be found at the bottom of the entry form.
