Mackintosh Gin Newsletter: January 2019
Happy New Year and welcome to the January newsletter from Mackintosh Gin! December was full on and went in the blink of an eye! January will be quieter, so we will use the time to focus on our plans for the next couple of months.
Batch 1 has nearly sold out which is amazing, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us and purchased a bottle of our gin, it really is appreciated. We will be distilling batch 2 this week which is sooner than we anticipated, we’ve been looking forward to this moment and can’t wait to get the bottles out!
If anyone is still considering purchasing a bottle from the first batch (read on for a discount code!) there are still some bottles left. We will be including a branded canvas tote bag with all purchases of the remaining bottles from batch 1 which we will post about on our social media channels on Friday. Get one of the last remaining bottles from batch 1 here.
We have had more bottle shops and delis stock us in the past few weeks, which really is fantastic. If your local independent store doesn’t stock our gin, ask them to request us and we will see what we can do. If there is somewhere you think we should be stocked in let us know via email and we will look into them.
We didn’t exhibit at any festivals or Christmas markets last month and we have none planned for January yet. We will be focusing on meet the maker/tasting events and gin festivals this year and aim to do something every month. We really love the brand-consumer engagement, this is what makes our gin journey so much fun. We love when we have images sent to us too featuring our gin, we received this image recently from Mark Noble Photography which we love.
As we mentioned last month, we are giving away the last bottle from batch 1 (bottle number 292) in a lucky draw once batch1 has sold out, we want to do this as a thank you to everyone who has bought a bottle of our gin directly from us. This includes all sales made already and any that come in for the remaining bottles.
We have had lots of feedback for our Mackintosh 75 cocktail that we posted about last month, this really is a wonderful tasting cocktail although it is very moreish! We did enjoy some of them ourselves last night to see in the bells!
We have also been enjoying other cocktails this past month, we had some Kaiser Cups on Christmas day (which we will post about soon) which tastes amazing, it really is a fantastic cocktail and makes a lovely punch. We first tasted these when we were in Berlin in 2017 and look forward to posting about these soon.
The past couple of weeks we have been enjoying Brambles, this cocktail is really easy to make and most of the ingredients are easily sourced. The Crème De Mure might be difficult to get locally depending on where you are but there are a few variations available online. Any blackberry liqueur will suffice for this recipe. With cocktails it is easy to forget that they are quite strong, and often very moreish. We encourage you to enjoy Mackintosh Gin responsibly.
60ml Mackintosh Gin 30ml Lemon Juice 15ml Sugar Syrup 15ml Creme De Mure Lemon slice and some blackberries to garnish
Fill an old fashioned glass with crushed ice. Pour over the gin, lemon juice & sugar syrup and gently stir together. Top the glass up with more ice if room permits. Drizzle the Creme De Mure over the ice and let it run through to the bottom of the glass. Gently stir together then garnish with a slice of lemon and a couple of blackberries. Enjoy!
It’s that time of year again when people embark on dry January. More information can be found on the Alcohol Change Website. Whilst we support this worthwhile cause we feel it is important that individuals monitor their drinking all year round and encourage responsible drinking. For those doing the opposite and taking part in London Dry January, otherwise known as Ginuary, we have a discount code for you which will give you 10% off all purchases from our website during January. Simply type ginuary into the promo code box at check out and the discount will be applied. Of course, if you’re taking part in the actual Dry January the code is still valid. Why not use it to treat yourself to a bottle of our gin to celebrate with in February?!
Keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates, cocktails and where & when we will be offering some tastings of our gin!
Please enjoy Mackintosh Gin responsibly.
