February Newsletter

Welcome to the February newsletter from Mackintosh Gin! With it being a Leap year we wanted to wait until the 29th to send it out! Congratulations to all you newly engaged couples and Happy Birthday if your birthday is today!


January was a busy month for us as we completed the development of our two new products, our Navy Strength Gin and our Old Tom Gin. The Navy Strength, which we're calling Mackintosh Mariner Strength Gin is bottled at 59% ABV and is a beautiful cocktail gin. It is delicious in a Martini and in a Negroni!


The Old Tom took us some time to finalise as we spent a few months trialling different sugars/sweeteners and botanicals. We wanted to create a gin that can be enjoyed with lemonade and we're proud to have achieved that with this expression. We've used fresh grapefruit whilst distilling, just like we do with our London Dry & Mariner Strength gins, but we've also used fresh pineapple which gives a wonderful after taste when drinking. For the sweetness we chose a candy syrup which we loved as soon as we first tasted it. We're looking forward to enjoying this in a tall glass over ice, with a pineapple slice and topped up with lemonade this summer!


We had the label designs back from our designer, we're really happy with these and cannot wait to have these printed.

Mackintosh Gin Labels

We had a setback getting the labels printed for the new products but hope our issues are rectified now. We anticipate having the labels by the end of March/start of April at the latest, which means both these products will be shipping by mid April! We're running a fantastic pre-order sale due to interest in these products, full details of which can be found the end of this newsletter!


Our cocktail this month comes courtesy of Franklin & Sons which they were enjoying over New Year and shared with us. We love trying new cocktails that our ginpals come up with and this one was an instant hit!


Ingredients:

50ml Mackintosh Gin

25ml Grand Marnier

25ml clementine juice

10ml lemon juice

1 dash of Angostura Bitters

75ml Franklin & Sons Natural Indian Tonic Water


Method:

Pour the Mackintosh Gin, Grand Marnier, clementine juice and lemon juice into a highball glass. Stir and mix, before adding ice and topping up with Franklin & Sons Natural Indian Tonic. Garnish with a clementine and lime/mint leaf to serve. Enjoy!

Next month we are exhibiting at The Gin To My Tonic Show in Glasgow and we're really excited to catch up with all our ginpals and make new ones over the weekend. If you're going we look forward to welcoming you at our stand to say hello. You'll find us at stand C16!


We have had a lot of interest in our new products and receive regular emails asking when these are going on sale, thankfully we can announce that these will be available from mid April onwards. Each batch will produce less than 300 bottles and we can see the first batch from both selling out quickly.


We have had a lot of people asking if they can pre-purchase or reserve a bottle, so we are delighted to announce that we are running a pre-sale for both the Mariner Strength, Pineapple & Grapefruit Old Tom and a mix case of 6 bottles (2 bottles of each expression).
