Negroni

This classic gin cocktail is composed of three equal parts of Gin, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth and is in the Mackintosh cocktail hall of fame as Jim’s drink of choice! As with many timeless cocktails, the origins of the Negroni are uncertain but this bittersweet cocktail is said to have originated from early 20th Century Northern Italy and is renowned for its status as an iconic Italian gin cocktail. Using Mackintosh Mariner Strength Gin packs a Negroni full of life as the notes of our overproof gin are emphasised in this classic cocktail but our London Dry also makes for a sharp tasting note when balanced with the counterparts of the Negroni. At Mackintosh HQ we like to enjoy our Negronis with a large ice cube which we pour the mix over before releasing the aromas of the orange peel around the rim of the glass and garnishing the drink with it. When garnishing the cocktail, it can be a wedge, peel, slice or even dried orange!
